Bentonite
BENTONITE is a hydrophilic clay of volcanic origin composed mainly of silicon and aluminum oxide (phyllosilicate), but also of numerous natural micronutrients. In agriculture it has proven effective for various uses. It is used as an adhesive, as a carrier of other products but above all, due to its characteristic of absorbing water, BENTONITE creates an environment unsuitable for the development of many pathogens
CHARACTERISTICS The minerals sprayed on the leaves create an obstacle to the development of insects and cryptogams. Indispensable for the preparation of log paste. Bentonite is a natural clay of volcanic origin composed mainly of montmorillonite silicate (hydrated silicate of aluminium, magnesium, calcium and sodium). The specific characteristic of this type of bentonite consists in its ability to create a molecular bond with water, incorporating it, retaining it and becoming, with it, a sort of waterproofing gel which mechanically counteracts the onset of cryptogamic diseases and the movement of phytophages.
BENTONITE
Bentonite is also used as an additive in animal feed. The European classification code as a food additive is E558. The adsorbent power of bentonite is effective as an active absorbent for mycotoxins.
DOSES AND METHOD OF USE It is used in protective treatments at a dose of 700 g/100 liters of water and in association with 350 g of sulfur for the preparation of the NAB mixture (biodynamic agriculture). Excellent use in the dose of 500 g/100 liters of water + 200 g of copper sulphate, as it creates negative and inappropriate conditions for the development of cryptogams (plant fungi)
Bentonite is also useful in the preparation of the so-called "log paste". The plants are affected by the day-night temperature range typical of the winter and spring periods. With this preparation a sort of protective coat with absorbent action is created.
